FOREST ENGINEERING (ENGLISH)

General Information


Purpose:

Planning and protection of forest areas (including national parks, nature conservation areas, hunting and wildlife development areas), which cover approximately 26% of the country's surface area, especially those who graduated from the Department of Forestry Engineering and the majority of whom work in institutions or organizations affiliated with the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs. The aim is to further increase the knowledge of forest engineers working on important issues such as forest management, forestry management, etc., on certain special forestry issues. By ensuring that graduate students take part in the projects carried out by the academic staff of the Department of Forestry Engineering, it is aimed to increase the quality and quantity of the research of faculty members and to better train and financially support graduate students. In addition, within the scope of the Erasmus Program, graduate students can be sent abroad for student exchange for certain periods of time, and in this way, it is aimed for our students to follow the current changes in their subjects and improve their foreign languages.

Admission and Registration Conditions:

In order to apply for the Thesis Master's Program, the following conditions must be met:

(a) Candidates must have a bachelor's degree deemed appropriate by the relevant E ABD/EASD and Conservatories and accepted by EYK.

(b) Obtain at least 55 (fifty-five) points from ALES according to the announced score type of the program he/she is applying for.

(c) Success evaluation score, 50% of ALES grade, 30% of undergraduate graduation grade, 20% of written and/or interview exam grade (with 10% of written score if both written and interview exams are taken). It is determined by taking 10% of the verbal score into consideration). A success evaluation grade is not determined for students who score below 50 out of 100 in the written or interview exam, and these students are considered unsuccessful and are not ranked. In addition, in order for a student to be considered successful, the total score obtained from ALES, undergraduate graduation and written and/or interview exam scores must be at least 50 points.
(d) In accordance with the decision of the relevant E ABD/EASD, in cases where written and interview exams are not held, the success evaluation grade is determined by taking 60% of the ALES score and 40% of the undergraduate graduation grade. Students whose success evaluation score is below 50 out of 100 are considered unsuccessful and are not ranked.

(d) 3 (three) times more students than the announced quota are accepted for written and/or interview exams. Other applications are not taken into consideration.

(e) Written and/or interview exam juries are composed of 5 faculty members, 3 (three) or 5 (five) principal and 2 (two) substitutes, by EYK, among the 7 (seven) faculty members proposed by the E ABD presidency for each announced program. (five) or 7 (seven) faculty members are determined as the exam jury. Written and/or interview exam is conducted by E ABD. Candidates who do not take the written and/or interview exam are considered unsuccessful.

(f) Candidates who apply to the Thesis Master's Program are ranked according to the success evaluation score stated above. Candidates equal to the announced quota are announced on the institute's website for final registration. Candidates on the main list who have not registered will be registered from the reserve list on the announced day and time, according to their success order, until the quota is filled.

Time of Education:

(1) The duration of the master's program with thesis is four semesters, starting from the semester in which the courses related to the registered program are given, excluding the time spent in scientific preparation, regardless of whether the student registers for each semester or not, and the program is completed in a maximum of six semesters.
(2) Those who cannot successfully complete the credit courses and seminar courses included in the education plan at the end of four semesters or who cannot fulfill the success conditions/criteria stipulated by the University within this period; The student who fails his thesis work or does not defend his thesis within the maximum period of time will be dismissed from the University.
(3) Regulations regarding students who may graduate from the master's program prematurely are determined by the Senate.


Course and Credit Load: 

(1) The thesis master's program consists of at least seven courses, a seminar course and thesis work, with a total of not less than 21 credits. The thesis master's program consists of a total of at least 120 ECTS credits, including at least eight courses, including the seminar course, and thesis work, provided that it is not less than 60 ECTS credits in two semesters of an academic semester.
(2) The seminar course is evaluated as successful or unsuccessful and is not given in the first semester.
(3) A student can enroll in a maximum of 45 ECTS courses in a semester. ECTS and evaluation are carried out according to the principles determined by the Senate.
(4) At most two of the courses the student will take can be chosen from undergraduate courses, provided that they were not taken during undergraduate education. In addition, a maximum of two courses can be selected from courses offered at other higher education institutions, with the recommendation of the institute's department of science/art branch and the approval of the institute's board of directors.


Success Audit:

A student doing a master's degree with thesis; In order to proceed to the thesis stage, the weighted GPA cannot be less than 2.50. He is obliged to repeat or take new courses until he meets the average requirement. The weighted GPA for graduation cannot be less than 2.50.
